Portland Wedding Photographer | Woodsy Bridal Session

Bridal sessions are available as an add-on to wedding packages, or can be booked as a regular portrait session, without a wedding package. There are so many great reasons for having your bridal portraits done. Maybe your wedding day will not (or did not) allow for ample time to get these lovely photos or maybe you weren't pleased with your own wedding portraits. It can also be a wonderful thing to do for an anniversary or simply as an excuse to wear your wedding dress again!

This session was done in Salem, Oregon, using a combination of film and digital cameras.

Dress: Nine West
Shoes: Nine West
Headpiece: DIY birdcage veil

Portland Wedding Photographer | DIY pin curls!

I highly recommend hiring a hair stylist and makeup artist for your wedding day, BUT this is an easy DIY look for your engagement session, boudoir session, bridal session, etc.

Using this technique, here are some photos of yours truly. Yeah, yeah, it was 4 years ago and I was thinner, younger, and had an eyebrow ring. Big whoop.

I did this on dry hair, sprayed it with hairspray and waited about 10 minutes.

And this is what I had when I took them out. My hair holds curl really well, so obviously 10 minutes wouldn't work for some. I can also get much tighter curls with this technique if I do it with wet hair and let it dry (usually overnight).

Salem Wedding Photographer . . . Vow Renewal.

This is a little personal for me, but here goes…

Today is my 15th wedding anniversary.

This post, however, was scheduled ahead of time, as we are preparing to celebrating our anniversary at the beach, where we fell in love (hence the beach themed rings in the following photos).

On a warm and sunny, but rainy September evening, my husband and I renewed our vows. Just the two of us, in our own backyard, reading words we had written ourselves. No guests, no children, just the two of us. With our favorite songs playing through the outdoor speakers, we exchanged words and rings. We reflected on the fun-filled past, reminded each other how awesome the present is, and talked about how amazing the future will be. No details, no party, just two people madly in love. Still.

After reading our vows, we walked to the field next door, had a few drinks, listened to more music, and snapped a few photos. For anyone who is curious, we used a tripod and a remote for both the ceremony and the field shots.

I love photographing weddings. I enjoy capturing the details, the interactions at the reception, the guests, etc. At the end of the day, though, the thing I love the most is... love. My favorite part of photographing a wedding is pulling the bride and groom aside and photographing just the two of them together. I love capturing those first moments as newlyweds and to see them wildly in love, as they start their new life together. It reminds me of my own wedding and how I felt on that day and how I feel today, fifteen years later.
I wish all of my brides and grooms a marriage as amazing as ours.

To my husband, Ben… I love you more than words can say.

Oregon Wedding Photographer . . . Salem Bridal Portraits

These beautiful bridal portraits were taken Salem, Oregon.

Bridal portraits can be added to any wedding package or booked as a regular portrait session. This gives brides an opportunity to wear their gown again (yay!), as well as give them the opportunity to shoot at a location (or in weather) that may not have been available on their wedding day. I love doing bridal sessions because we aren't constrained at all by the wedding day timeline!

This session was done with a combination of film and digital cameras.
Film used was Portra 160 and shot on a Bronica ETRS.
Digital camera was a Canon 5D Mark II.
