Photographing the Ordinary.

Every now and then I do what I refer to as a "walkabout," a term I learned from my college photography instructor, mel buffinton. At the time I don't think I really "got it" so to speak, but I certainly do now! Sometimes I go with a friend or a group friends and sometimes I go by myself. Sometimes I go to cool and interesting places and walk for miles. Other times I walk around a block in an interesting area.
Heck, sometimes I don't even leave my own yard!

This particular day was a trip with my friend, Dan, to Albany, OR.
We only had to walk a few blocks to get some cool shots. Then we spent the rest of the day chatting about all kinds of thing and eating lunch.

Why, yes, those are perm rods. In the middle of the road.
I guess someone did a perm-n-run? Drive by perming?
Who knows, but it definitely caught my eye.

Portland Film Photographer | One seriously awesome kid!

I love it when kids are confident and have style. I love it even more when they're also awesome on the inside and this girl most certain is!

She is smart, creative, funny, and so generous and kind.

Her family recently had an emergency situation occur at their
home and while the adults were trying to assess the situation and decide what to do, she'd already found a phone and dialed 911.
I think it's safe to say she'll go far!

I had a great time photographing her in downtown
Portland with some expired 35mm film.

Salem Photographer | Kickin' up dust in New Mexico.

A captured this last week in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
A car drove through some dirt, which just happened to get highlighted by the sun rays peeking through some trees.
I was so happy to have had my camera with me!

Salem Fine Art Photographer | A day with film.

Every now and then I make time for myself.

Sometimes it's shopping.
Sometimes it's getting a pedicure.
Sometimes it's just begging out in the backyard.

Sometimes, though, it's me driving around in the car with the music on and stopping every so often to take photos. One day, last fall (yes, I'm slow when it comes to getting film developed, scanned, and blogged) I did just this with my trusty 35mm camera. For anyone interested, these were all taken on the same roll of Ilford Delta 400.
