Portland Birth Photographer . . . Another Quick Entrance!

I don't want to make any promises, but it seems that hiring me to photograph your birth will result in a quick delivery. Of course, some have been so fast that I have missed them. Those that I have been fortunate enough to attend, t hough,  were VERY quick. As in, the babies were born within minutes of me entering the room. This little girl was no exception! Mama had a long labor, but moved from 4cm to delivery extremely fast. Within minutes of my arrival, Miss Amelie made hers!

Seeing the paper on the left just made my night.

Salem Childbirth Photographer . . . Lucas.

Wow, what a whirlwind of a birth this was!

I headed to the hospital, despite mom only being 2-3 cm. I had childcare taken care of and figured why not? I took my time, got a coffee on the way (you know, in preparation of a long night).

When I arrived, Mom was already 4cm and counting.

The next thing we knew, Lucas was coming!

No time to break the bed down or anything. The midwife flew in, got as ready as she could, and BAM, he was born! It could not have been more than 5 minutes after I got to the room.

According to the medical staff, she went from 4cm to baby in arms in 18 minutes!

As you can see, Lucas was very expressive, making all kinds of adorable and funny facial expressions. I was also thrilled to have been able to capture shots of his older siblings meeting him for the first time.

Portland Birth Photographer . . . Daddy's Girl.

I had the privilege of capturing a new life entering the world over the weekend.
This is the first girl in the family, as her older siblings are both boys.
I captured this shot of her, holding onto her Dad's finger, just minutes
after her birth. Needless to say, it melted my heart.

Portland Childbirth Photographer | Twins!

I missed yet another birth, due to an emergency c-section taking place before I arrived at the hospital. We had gotten the approval for me to be in the operating room with these twins for their scheduled c-section, but Mom's water broke a few weeks early and they took her back for an emergency cesarean about two minutes before I arrived. TWO MINUTES!

Waiting for news...

Dad finally came out with the news that one baby was in the NICU with breathing problems and that the other was with mom.

I was allowed to go into the NICU to photography one of the two boys.
He was surprisingly plump (nearly 7 pounds) with chubby
cheeks and my goodness was he cute!!

Shortly after the NICU visit, I was allowed to visit mom and the other baby boy in recovery. I felt a little guilty, as the rest of the family had to wait, but hey, I had a job to do!

And what do you know...ANOTHER adorable baby!

After some more waiting, Mom was moved to her own room and family was allowed to see her and meet the other baby (they'd already gotten to visit the NICU).

Did I mention that these babies were born on my husband's birthday?
Yep!
He was even born at the SAME hospital (as was one of our babies).
