Objects that tell something about me...

I'm on a photography message board and we do weekly assignments with themes. The theme this week was "Objects that tell something about you" which I thought was a great theme. Anyway, here are some of my images from that assignment...

Anyone that knows me knows I'm a shoe girl. These are some o my favorites. .

Coffee!
And not just any coffee, but french press coffee. Thanks to my brother-in-law who got me the press and a teapot for Christmas, I'm totally addicted. I love having my cup of coffee in the morning, preferably outside on a nice day.

Cameras!
Anyone who visits my house will see my antique and vintage camera collection. These are actually family heirlooms that have been passed down to me from Ben's family. I just love each and every one of my cameras!

Sophie (newborn)

This is Miss Sophie. She was about 2.5 weeks old when I shot these a few days ago. She's still so tiny (under 7 pounds) and just about as sweet as can be. I don't think she cried once the entire time I was there. She was very bright eyed and alert and seemed to be checking everything out almost the whole time.

I love her little outie belly button!

Baby feet are always a favorite of mine.

A little smile?

This one might be my favorite.

Vintage.

And one color shot.

More photos of newborn Sam

So sweet and tiny!
Sam was 5 days old and less than 5 pounds at the time of this shoot.
For anyone considering a newborn session, I highly recommend that you schedule it while still pregnant and get them done within the first week of life.
The photos are so much easier when they're younger.
They're sleepier and more coperative.
Plus their skin is better (less likely that jaundice or baby acne have set in.
(Look at those fingers!)

Photos by Oscar

I let my 3 year old take a few photos today with my point and shoot camera. I love seeing things from his viewpoint.

Sneak peek photos of Sam (5 day old newborn)

I photographed Samuel yesterday. What a sweetie. He was only 5 days old and under 7 pounds. Officially my youngest and smallest client. I couldn't believe how quick the session was! He was so cooperative and mellow for us. His big sister (I believe she's 13?) was a big help too!
I swear, he kept showing me his feet.
He would stick one or both of them up every chance he got.
On Dad's arm.

More to come of Sam later this week.

Surprise!

We threw a surprise party for my best friend yesterday. I think it's safe to say that she did not suspect a thing! This was the moment she was surprsied.
I think she was happy to see all of us in her backyard!

Her favorite color is pink so she was showered with pink gifts - feather boa, flowers, gardening bucket, gardening gloves, even the forks were pink!

And of course, pink cupcakes!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CARRIE!!

Blooming Dogwood

This Dogwood tree is in my front yard and has been so pretty the last few weeks!
Remember that you can click on a photo to enlarge it.

How do I set up in someones home?

In case you are wondering how I set up a studio in someones home, I thought I'd take a pullback photo to give you an idea. This is from a recent newborn shoot. The window is to the right. I would kneel down and get in between the window and the subjects and shoot from there. I just clamped some black backdrops (aka sheets) to a couple of chairs. This was a pretty typical sized apartment with average window light. Really, it's possible just about anywhere!
And the finished product...

Flying baby?

This photo of Ethan (see previous post) cracks me up. I was so happy to catch him yawning, but it looks as if he's flying (or doing a canon ball?) and yelling "Geronimo!"

6 day old newborn (Ethan)!

I had the privelage of photographing an ADORABLE six day old boy yesterday at his home. Ethan was seriously sweet and his parents were SO wonderful to work with. They were very patient during the 3 hours photo shoot and were totally cool with letting me do whatever I wanted as far as posing and props and what not. Here are some of my favorites...
I thought this little giraffe printed footstool was so cute.
And he was small enough to fit on it! And would you look at his leg wrinkles? If you click on the photo it will enlarge and then you can see the hair on his back. He reminds me of my middle son as a newborn.

He kept hanging his leg off, which I thought was too cute.

All zonked out in a bowl.

I did an aged photo effect on this one.

In his dad's arms.

I really liked the texture here.

And the color scheme.
